A Charity Call

You may have seen the latest charity knitting call making the rounds of the Canadian knitting scene. Period of Purple Crying is BC's shaken baby syndrome prevention initiative. The program is currently running a knitting campaign to coincide with Canada's National Child Day in November. The request is for purple knitted hats for newborns, which will be handed out the week of November 15th. You can get all the information on this campaign at the BC Children's Hospital website here, including where to send hats. The deadline is November 5th. There is a lot of great information on the website about preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome as well.

This week we are offering 10% off any purple yarn in stock, along with a free pattern for newborn hats. The pattern includes directions for both sock yarn hats and worsted weight hats. In sock yarns you might want to consider Santa Fe purple heart colourway sock yarn, or Araucania Ranco purple, or Opal Prisma Purple. In worsted weight you might consider Bariloche purple heart colourway, or Mirasol Akapana, or Tika Purple.

On the Road
